Arrowhead Forge School of Blacksmithing is owned and operated by David W. Osmundsen. He worked as a gunsmith and industrial blacksmith before opening his own forge in the 1970s. Osmundsen started his forging school in 2004 in response to a large amount of interest in his community.
The school offers classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced smiths. Depending on a student’s level, classes cover safety, tool use, fire and hammer control, forging techniques, shaping, and heat treating.
Project options include nails, chisels, hooks, and spoons. Current class offerings include Beginning Blacksmithing, Tool Smithing, and Classic Scrolls & Joinery. These classes cover all the skills necessary to build confidence at the forge.

Sheridan College is part of the Northern Wyoming Community College District. The college system was ranked the 5th best community college in the United States. Sheridan College offers 50 degree programs, including farrier science.

The University of Wyoming was founded in 1886 and is the only four year institution in the state of Wyoming. The University offers a BA in studio art with an emphasis in metalworking.
Students interested in learning forging and jewelry making techniques should apply to the University as a studio art major. Once accepted, students choose an area of emphasis. Metalworking is an option and covers beginner through advanced techniques.
The program was founded in 2009 by Leah Hardy. She guides students through the program and encourages them to explore with various types of metals and metalworking processes.
