The Melting Point is owned and operated by Jordan Ford and Austin Littenberg. Ford studied geology before discovering his love for glass art. Littenberg was inspired to become a glass blower after watching a documentary of the famous Dale Chihuly. 

The pair offers classes for beginner through advanced glass artists. Classes range from one to six hours long and teach the fundamentals of glass blowing. 

Beginners can blow their own objects like paperweights, cacti, bowls, flowers, tumblers, and vases. Advanced students should sign up for one of the The Melting Point’s master classes. These classes are taught by visiting artists and are great opportunities to learn new skills.

Sonoran Glass School is a public access non profit art center in Tucson. The facility is the only one of its kind in Arizona features four distinct studios for glass education. The School first opened in 2001. 

Students can participate in a few different learning options at Sonoran Glass School. Complete beginners can take short project-based classes. Projects include vases, pumpkins, paperweights, and flowers. Individual and partner options are available. 

Those wanting to learn more about glass blowing can sign up for hot shop classes. These are organized into introductory, novice, and intermediate levels.

Introductory students learn gathering, color application, and reheating methods. Novice students learn shaping. Intermediate participants continue to refine their shaping techniques and learn new skills like cane pulling. 

Sonoran Glass School also offers semester-long courses for serious students. These classes run weekly for three months and cover all the fundamentals of glass blowing.

Gregory Tomb Glassblowing Studio is a mobile glass blowing business owned by Gregory Tomb. He offers classes in Arizona and New York. 

Tomb became interested in glass as a kid when his family would visit the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. He later apprenticed in glass and became a production glass blower with Simon Pearce. 

Gregory Tomb is currently working on building a permanent studio in Arizona. His classes are project based and perfect for beginners. Participants can choose to create paperweights, hearts, or pumpkins.

Mesa Arts Center offers flameworking and glass blowing classes for all skill levels. The Center is owned by the City of Mesa and is Arizona’s largest art center. 

Visitors can explore a wide range of art mediums in the Center’s theaters and art studios. Glass blowing classes at Mesa Arts Center teach beginner and intermediate students Italian techniques. 

Students learn to create their own pumpkins and ornaments.
